Cork leather is made by shaving the bark from a cork oak tree. This is done without harming the tree as it isn’t felled and the outer bark grows back. Some research shows that harvesting in this way even extends the life of the tree. Once the bark is harvested it’s laid out to dry for 6 months, then it’s boiled in water, flattened. No chemicals are used to make cork leather and it is of course vegan.
